Keep your tasks in step with Notion

If you already keep a to-do list in Notion, connect it to Six Socks Tasks. Tick something off in either place and it's ticked off in both. It takes about five minutes, once.

Updated 6 November 2026. You'll need to be able to add integrations in your Notion workspace (workspace owners can; members may need to ask).

Set it up

  1. Make a Six Socks integration in Notion

Go to notion.so/profile/integrations (or in Notion: Settings, then Connections, then Develop or manage integrations) and choose New integration.

    • Name: Six Socks
    • Workspace: the one your tasks are in
    • Type: Internal

    Save it.

  2. Check what it can do

On the integration's Capabilities tab, tick Read content, Update content and Insert content. For "Whose tasks" to show names, also choose Read user information without email addresses. Save.

  3. Copy the key

On the Configuration tab, find Internal Integration Secret, choose Show, then Copy. It starts with ntn_.

Treat it like a password: anyone with it can change the pages you share with Six Socks.

  4. Paste it into Six Socks

In Six Socks, open Tasks, then Connect Notion. Paste the key and choose Connect.

  5. Share your tasks database with Six Socks

In Notion, open the page that holds your tasks database. Choose ••• (top right), then Connections, find Six Socks and confirm.

Six Socks can only see pages you share like this. Sharing a page also shares the pages inside it, so share the database itself rather than a big parent page.

  6. Choose the database and check the fields

Back in Six Socks, choose your database (choose "look again" if it isn't listed yet). Six Socks guesses which fields hold what. Check them:

    In Six SocksYour Notion field
Task nameThe database's title field (often Name or Title).
Done or notA Status field (choose which option means done, and which means not done), a checkbox, or a select.
Due dateA date field. Times are kept too.
NotesThe page itself (what you write when you open a task in Notion), or a text field. Optional.
Whose tasksIf the database is shared with your team, choose only your own tasks (from a Person field).

Choose Start syncing. Your open tasks in Six Socks are added to Notion, and open tasks in Notion come into Six Socks.

The key is kept in your Mac's Keychain, encrypted. It isn't saved in any file, isn't shown again, and is never given to your helper. Six Socks talks to Notion itself; your helper works on your tasks in Six Socks, and the app passes changes on.

How it keeps in step

If something's not right

"Notion didn't accept the key"
Copy the key again from the integration's Configuration tab; it's easy to miss a few characters. If you made a new key, the old one stops working.
"Notion can't find that database" or it isn't in the list
Share it with Six Socks (step 5), then choose "look again". Check you shared the database page itself.
A change didn't come across
Choose Sync now. Notion records edit times to the minute, so a change made in Notion in the same minute as one from Six Socks can wait until the next edit.
Times are an hour or so out
Six Socks uses your Mac's time zone. Check your Mac's Date and Time settings, and the time zone in your Notion settings.

Changing or disconnecting

In Tasks, choose Settings on the Notion card to change the database or fields, or to disconnect. Disconnecting removes the key from your Mac; your tasks stay in both places but stop being kept in step. To remove Six Socks's access completely, also delete the integration in Notion.
